Gov. Kasich is deliberating whether to sign SB296, which is a bill on his desk that would require a citizen to post a mandatory cash bond with the courts to keep one or more polling places open. The bill, in addition to being dangerously similar to a poll tax, would require any court petitioner to show clear and convincing evidence that there’s no prospect of a fair election in the absence of a court order to keep the polls open on Election Day if/when unexpected problems arise.
